Daisuke Satō: Japanese Novelist

I was looking for something I could write about that was manga related, but also had a horror theme. I thought about Highschool of the Dead. Then I remembered that the author of this manga Daisuke Sato had recently passed away. I felt this would be a good time to talk about him and his accomplishments.

Daisuke Sato was well known for his alternate history novels, but he was also a Japanese board game designer. He designed games like Escort Fleet, Return to Europe, and Red Sun Black Cross. There were five games in all that he had designed. He has also written thirteen novels over his career.  I believe he was best known for his manga work on Imperial Guards.

Many of you may know this already, but at the time of his passing Daisuke Sato was working on Highschool of the Dead. HOTD has been on hiatus since 2013. There are no reports if this manga series will be finished or not. There are many fans of the series that hope it is. I am included in this group. I would love to see his last work completed. I would also love to see his likeness included as a zombie in the manga. I believe this would be a great way to remember the man who created the series and gave us all so much.

In March of 2017 Daisuke Sato lost his battle with ischemic heart disease. Below you will find a few links I used in writing this blog post. Let’s all take a moment and remember Daisuke Sato.
